About
Welcome to the world of angling as seen through the lens of Robert Does Fishing. I’m Robert Davidson, a devoted angler whose journey began as a young boy exploring the rivers and lochs of East Ayrshire, Scotland. These waters have been my playground since those early days, nurturing a lifelong passion for fishing that has only grown stronger with time.
From the very start, I’ve been captivated by the art of fly fishing having been introduced by my grandfather. There’s a special kind of magic in presenting a carefully crafted fly to the water, observing the ripples of excitement, and feeling the exhilarating tug of a fish on the line. My heart belongs to game species like trout, salmon, and grayling that call these waters home, though I’ve been known to answer the call of the sea on occasion.
As fate would have it, the lockdown presented me with a unique opportunity. I embarked on a journey to learn the art of fly tying, and this newfound passion quickly wove itself into the fabric of my angling world. The vise became my canvas, feathers and threads my palette, and the resulting flies an extension of my creative spirit. The connection between tying my own flies and enticing fish became an inseparable part of my angling experience.
Here, in the pages of this blog, I invite you to join me in recounting the tales of my fishing expeditions. It’s a virtual tackle box of stories, insights, and reflections on my time spent by the water. I’ll regale you with triumphs and challenges, unravel the methods and techniques I’ve honed, and share the gear and flies that have earned their place in my fishing arsenal.
Whether you’re a seasoned angler looking to exchange tips or a newcomer eager to dive into the world of fishing, Robert Does Fishing promises to be a source of inspiration, knowledge, and enjoyment. Together, let’s cast our lines, explore the currents, and uncover the mysteries that swim beneath.
I also try to vlog my fishing days as much as possible. You can watch my sessions on my YouTube channel here:
